In cooperation with the county governments the number of counties connected with a dedicated line increased from 9 to 43. This includes a variety of connectivity solutions: T1 lines, Frame Relay, Web Ramps and dedicated analog lines. Twenty four of the CEO's are managed and supported by UF/IFAS IT, the remainder are managed by county staff.

Major efforts were made in the recent year to advance connectivity throughout UF/IFAS facilities. Particular attention was given to external units that had no connectivity resources other than dial-up.

Currently resources have been allocated by the VP's Office for connectivity that allowed installation of connections to UF/IFAS-RECs. At the end of 1999, 14 RECs are connected to the WAN using a dedicated link and the lines have been ordered for the remaining ones.
