Centrally-based Software Installations

March 30, 2004  (last edited March 30, 2004 by Steve Lasley)

Policy

In order to maintain compliance with UF IT Security Policy and UF Acceptable Use Policy, IFAS IT only has the right to perform centrally-based installations of anti-virus, security patching and other management software onto IFAS computers. Units, groups or individuals may make a written request to opt-out of these implementations. Such requests should be made to the VP via the IT Director and should include a written justification. Sufficient reporting must be provided to ensure that the computers in question are being properly managed via other means.

Recommendation

ITPAC recommends to the VP that an IMM be written to document this policy recommendation.

Status

Approved by ITPAC on 3/30/04.
